The field consists of 10 entrants who are vying for the 3^rd Jewel of the Triple Crown. Preakness Stakes-The 143^rd running of the Preakness stakes is carded as race 13 this Saturday at Pimlico Racecourse, approximate scheduled post time is 6:48 PM. The field consists of 8 entrants who are vying for the 2^nd Jewel of the Triple Crown with Justify continuing his quest for a Triple Crown bid. The weather forecast is projecting seasonal temperatures with massive amounts of rain leading up to and on race day, a yielding turf and sloppy main track are a given certainly not ideal. Kentucky Derby-(Louisville, Kentucky) the 144^th  running of the Kentucky Derby is carded as race 12 this Saturday at Churchill Downs, approximate scheduled post time is 6:50PM. The field consists of 20 entrants who are vying to make history having their name on a placard in the paddock at the storied Churchill Downs. The weather forecast shows partly cloudy with ideal seasonal temps with a 20% chance of participation, but Friday’s forecast was for 90% rain so main track should be good with some bounce in it.

Del Mar, California- The Breeders Cup is back in California, but instead of being at the staple Santa Anita, we go south to the greater San Diego area, this year marks the 34th running of the Breeders Cup. Last year we had a clean cup, let’s hope for another fair playing field. Similar to Keeneland in 2015, this is the 1^st time the Breeders Cup will be held at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club which most consider one the best places to watch equine animals perform. The field consists of 10 entrants who are vying for the 2^nd Jewel of the Triple Crown with Always Dreaming continuing his quest for a Triple Crown bid. The weather forecast is projecting seasonal mild temperatures with little to no precipitation leading up to and on Preakness day, should be ideal weather for fans and horses.

It’s time to get your “Preak on”, while I love the Derby and it is the greatest single betting race annually, the Preakness race and weekend is the most fun. Outside of the fights in the infield and the parking lot, it’s just a very entertaining weekend. Continue reading →
